Staff Recognised For “Going The Extra Mile”

Staff from Bath & North East Somerset Council and partner organisations who go the extra mile in their work have been recognised at the Employee Excellence Awards.

The panel of judges received over 100 nominations from the public, councillors and staff, and 24 individual and 11 team awards were made at The Pump Rooms on Tuesday March 20.

Winners, who were recognised for their work during 2011, were welcomed by the Chairman of the Council, Cllr Peter Edwards before he and the Leader, Cllr Paul Crossley, presented them with their trophies.

Cllr Crossley, said: “The awards are our way of recognising and thanking those staff and teams that have gone the extra mile to deliver excellent service to everyone who lives in, works in or visits Bath and North East Somerset. Every single member of staff who has received a nomination should be very proud.”

Cllr Edwards added: “I’m delighted that we are able to recognise staff from many of the hundreds of services delivered, not just by the Council, but in our schools and with partners like NHS Bath and North East Somerset and Sirona Care and Health.”

There were individual winners across four categories: Excellent service; Exceptional circumstances; Efficiency, and for a Charitable / Exceptional Act.

Excellent Service winners were Tim Harris and Andy Tapper from the Anti-Social Behaviour team; Andy Keyford from the Environmental team; Anna Cheek and Charles Garrett from the Housing team; Mike Gray from Major Projects; Mark Cassidy from the Environmental team; Debbie Lear from the Public Protection team; Elaine Heal from Welton Primary School; Janice Chamberlain from Keynsham Clinic; Sue Breakah, Julie Donovan, Lesley Thomas, Steph Axon and Andrew Petty from Sirona Care & Health.

Exceptional Circumstances winners included: Matthew Langdon and Sadie Cox from the Environment team; Lara Dyte from Children’s Services, and Anne-Marie Stavert from Community Health & Social Care services.

The Efficiency award recognises those who have found new and better ways of working that are benefiting residents and the Council. The winners were Simon Memory from the Environment team; Geoff Dicker from Corporate Health and Safety; Jo Gregson from the Public Protection team and Janet Bilton from Adult Health Services.

The award for Charitable or exceptional act by a member of staff went to a former member of the Environment team Robert Brooke, who retired in 2011, for his support for the Radstock in Bloom committee.

Team awards went to the team that organised the Treasure and Transform exhibition in 2011; Sports and Active Lifestyles; The Roman Baths Development team; Facilities Management; the Placements, Commissioning and Contracts team; the Highways Lean Review and Maintenance team; Customer Services; Risk Management; the Registration team; St Nicholas Primary School; Sirona Care & Health Flu Vaccination team.
