The Bath Soup Company will be providing Bath Rugby fans with hot soup during their next home game.
The agreement will see soup being served at the Recreation Ground on 21st January, when Bath Rugby face Glasgow Warriors in the European Cup.
The Bath Soup Company, run by University graduate Dominic Povey, originated following his success in the Apprentice-style empty shop competition run by the Students’ Union.
Commenting on the agreement, Bath Rugby Marketing and Communications Director, Jez Curwin, said: “After listening to feedback from our supporters we are delighted to offer another food alternative on match day. We hope that everyone enjoys it just as much as we do.”
This project, run in conjunction with Bath homeless charity Julian House, offers those involved the opportunity to learn basic kitchen skills and food preparation as well as gaining a greater understanding about food and health hygiene.Based on serving the community, the company aims to provide a real benefit to the public, both from its soup and the way it’s made – The Bath Soup School.
The Bath Soup Company has also recently secured its first outlet in the city centre by supplying Jacob’s Coffee House. In addition, the graduate has kept strong links with the University and has struck an agreement with the Students’ Union for the Fresh and Students’ Union shops to stock the Bath Soup Company’s microwavable pots.
Student enterprise trainer Siobhan Hone said: “I am very proud of Dominic. He is a great example of someone who developed his idea from our student shop competition and had the vision and drive to turn a great idea into a real business that’s now having a positive impact on lives in our local community.”
Bath Soup Company founder, Dominic Povey, said: “I am delighted to be able to offer Bath Soup at the Rec. It’s a great opportunity for us and something we are all really excited about. I’m really proud that The Bath Soup Company has come such a long way since we first started selling soup on campus and the impact we are already making to our community. It’s great that Bath Rugby has recognised this and shown us the support they have, we are going to do everything we can to ensure we go down well with the fans.”
