The Olympics are coming to Peasedown St John in July thanks to a group of local churches.
Peasedown Churches Together are hosting their children’s holiday club with a special Olympic theme this year – to get people into the fall swing of the international games which will start in London at the end of July.
‘Run the Race’ is an action-packed three days of games and activities for children aged 5-11years old.
The event is being organised by Rob Bubyer, the children’s worker for St John’s Church.
He said: “This year is like no other. Both the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 are historic events for the UK.
“The Jubilee was hugely celebrated locally with street parties, special events and church services. Now, it’s the turn of the Olympics to bring people together, encourage residents to do something different and celebrate the very best of British sporting talent.”
Run the Race will feature quizzes, craft, games, songs and other activities focussed around the Olympics.
Rob added: “We will be performing a mix of songs, warm-up activities, drama, crafts, games, Bible narrations, and quizzes. There will also be a free BBQ on the final day for all the family.”
The ‘Run the Race’ Holiday Club will be held at St John’s Parish Church on 24th – 26th July, from 9am-3pm on first two days. The final day’s activities will end at 1pm with the family BBQ.
The three-day event is free.
