On Tuesday 17th January, the Royal United Hospital is inviting staff and visitors to a special promotion to find out more about ‘greener’ and healthier methods of transport.
Visitors will be able to meet with a team of travel advisors from the West of England Travel team to learn about the latest alternatives for travelling to the RUH. They can benefit from a 30% price reduction on a new bicycle through Cyclescheme, and pick up information on car sharing, bus and train timetables and more.
The West of England Travel team works with employers across BaNES, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bristol to see how they can help everyone do their bit to reduce congestion.
Howard Jones, Director of Estates and Facilities at the RUH says: “One of the aims of the Trust’s green travel plan is to reduce the number of people who have to drive to and from the hospital.
“So we’re very pleased to be working closely with the West of England Travel team to promote alternative ways of travelling. If we can encourage staff to consider using other means of transport to get to work, it will help to reduce the number of cars on the hospital site as well as reduce congestion generally.
Sara Sanders, Travel Team Manager, says: “I urge staff and visitors to come along and have a chat to the team. There is a lot of information available to help them see if there is a faster, greener, cheaper and more social way of travelling to the RUH.
“We work in lots of hospitals and we understand the pressures that NHS staff face in terms of cost of travel and travel time. We look forward to meeting everyone and seeing how we can help reduce congestion on site and make travelling faster.“
