Bath & North-East Somerset council are encouraging people to have their say on the future of local home improvement agency services.
These services currently help disabled and older people to live independently by providing support, information and advice. They also carry out minor repairs and help with the organisation of bigger repairs and necessary adaptations.
The councils involved in the scheme are proposing to commission a single provider, which will bring better value for money, as well as giving people higher quality services. They will also ensure in future that the provider operates a visiting service, as well as “surgeries” in locations across the area.
Councillor Simon Allen (Lib Dem, Radstock), who is a Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, said ““The local people who use home improvement services greatly value the assistance they provide. Bath & North East Somerset Council wants to get the views of residents about how this service can be improved in the future in way which is more efficient. I hope everyone has their say.”
