Community leaders in Peasedown St. John are asking for residents to come forward with suggestions for two new street names.

The names will be used for the two streets that will form the new housing development next to Wellow Lane. Building work started recently on the site for 95 homes.

Peasedown St John Parish Council Chairman Neil Hopkins, along with B&NES Councillors Sarah Bevan and Nathan Hartley, would like to know what local people think.

Cllr Neil Hopkins said: “It is important that we choose relevant names that the community will be happy to live with for as long as the houses remain.

“Residents have 8 weeks to submit their suggestions.  The two new street names will be chosen at the Parish Council meeting to be held on January 23rd next year.”

Cllr Sarah Bevan (Lib Dem, Peasedown) added: “Ideas for street names could be linked to the Queen’s Jubilee, or a local landmark, or even a particular fruit that has been known to grow in the area.”

Now the work has begun, Bath and North East Somerset Council have been liaising  closely with the developer, David Wilson Homes, to ensure that the building work is complete in a timely fashion.

Cllr Nathan Hartley (Lib Dem, Peasedown) commented: “I’d like to thank the residents living near to the development who have contacted me on a regular basis, regarding issues to do with the building work. I am working with our Planning Enforcement Team to ensure the homes are built swiftly, with minimal interruption to those living near-by.”

To submit your suggestions for the two new street names contact Peasedown St John Parish Council by calling 01761 433686, emailing [email protected] or writing to Peasedown St John Parish Council, Parish Office, Ground Floor, Unit 6, The Office Village, Bath Business Park, Peasedown St John, BA2 8SG.

The deadline for submissions is Friday 6th January 2012.
