Local people and businesses are being asked for help by Bath & North East Somerset Council in order to create a snapshot of Bath’s travel and parking habits.
It is to better inform future decisions on issues like residents parking zones, city centre parking provision, and improvements for people who use bicycles and travel on foot.
Over 21,000 households and over 2,000 businesses and other organisations in Bath will be surveyed. Residents and business within the existing residents’ and controlled parking zones and adjoining areas should have received a questionnaire this week.
The Council’s long-term plan for Bath proposes 6,000 new homes, 5,700 new jobs and commercial development across the city including at Bath Riverside, Ministry of Defence land and at locations in the city centre. These developments are likely to change the challenges that the Council faces to manage the demand for travel and parking in the future.
Councillor Roger Symonds (Lib-Dem, Combe Down), Cabinet Member for Transport, said, “Over the coming years there will be significant development and growth in the city with new homes and jobs. Bath & North East Somerset Council must make informed decisions about transport and parking that support the changes that our city will experience.
“To do this, we need the help of local people and businesses by filling in our survey about their travel and parking habits. This will lead to transport proposals that are based upon solid evidence. I hope as many people as possible take a few minutes to fill in the survey and I’d like to thank everyone who takes part.”
In addition to questions about parking and travel, the survey also asks people about bicycle ownership to gauge the potential demand for measures to support cycling.
