Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal road traffic collision on the A46 near Nimlet in Bath on Sunday 5th May.

At around 2.55pm a Yamaha 125cc motorcycle was travelling southbound along the road and a BMW 3 series was travelling in the opposite direction.

For reasons unknown, as the motorcyclist negotiated a bend the rider lost control of the vehicle colliding with the BMW. The 23 year old rider died as a result of the injuries he sustained.

Police would now like to speak to anyone using the road around this time who may have seen the vehicles prior to this collision or who witnessed it take place.

The road was closed for several hours after the incident for investigators to assess the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
