Children in the Newbridge area of Bath can now enjoy an improved play area after the Council replaced play equipment which had reached the end of its long life.
Brassmill Lane Play Area has been revamped with a new climbing frame unit, plus a new slide, spinning dish and toddler play items.
The new equipment was picked after the Council held a consultation play session at the park – to which 60 children and adults came to discuss what would be best in the play area. Pupils from Newbridge Primary School also gave their views on what they would like to see.
Councillor David Dixon (Lib-Dem, Oldfield), Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “The feedback Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Parks & Estates team received from the local community highlighted that lots of people wanted the slide to be replaced and so we managed to get this added into the changes as well. The solution now offers a good range of activities so that children of all ages can enjoy the many benefits outdoor play offers.”
This latest set of improvements to the Brassmill Lane Play Area totalled around £35,000 and builds upon renovations made with Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Members Initiative funding last year.
Ward Councillor Caroline Roberts, (Lib-Dem, Newbridge), said: “We are grateful to everyone involved in this initiative, which fits with the footpath and pedestrian crossing improvements made to the play area as requested by local parents. Children in the area are bound to get even more enjoyment out of the play park now and I’m sure they’re also very pleased with everyone’s efforts to bring about the improvements.“
