Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and Bristol based recycling organisation, Greensource Solutions, have joined forces this festive season to launch a mobile phone amnesty across the South West.
The organisations are asking people to donate their old mobile phones to help support life limited children and their families across the region.
Christmas and the New Year are busy and emotional times for all families and for those that visit CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice in Wraxall this is particularly true. Whilst not all families supported by CHSW choose to stay at a hospice over Christmas they all have support from the listening ear of a care team member on the end of the phone 24/7 if things get too much.
The care team staff at Charlton Farm become families’ trusted friends during their stays at the hospice and can offer vital support to families through a simple phonecall.
If CHSW receive 1,000 old mobile phones over the festive season, they could fund 1,000 phonecalls to families from a care team member who understands what they are going through. The mobile phone amnesty will run from December until the end of January 2012.
Kate Fisher, CHSW Corporate Fundraiser (East) said: “The CHSW mobile phone amnesty is a great way of spreading some seasonal goodwill with the added bonus of de-cluttering the house before the New Year. By simply getting rid of an unwanted mobile you will be helping us to provide families with the priceless support of a listening ear when times are tough. It would wonderful to reach our target of 1,000 mobiles so please have a look for any old handsets that may be lurking at the back of a draw and help us to raise a smile across the South West this festive season.”
