A person has died this morning and a second has been taken to the RUH suffering smoke inhalation after a fire on a boat on the River Avon in Bath.
The cabin cruiser, which was moored near to Pulteney Bridge, was well alight when crews from Avon Fire and Rescue were called just after 6.20am.
Avon Fire and Rescue have confirmed that a person has died at the scene and another person is being treated for burns and smoke inhalation at Bath’s Royal United Hospital.
The two people involved are believed to have been passengers on the boat.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is being investigated.
The boat was moored on the Riverside Walk, opposite Parade Gardens and had a smaller vessel tied alongside which was also damaged by the fire.
