Peasedown Plans For Second Christmas Festival

Crowds are expected to gather at Beacon Hall in Peasedown St John for the village’s second Christmas in the Park in December.

Organised by Parish Councillors Jo Davis and Karen Walker, with support from the Party in the Park Management Team, Christmas in the Park will feature live music from the 20-piece Bath Spa Brass Band, hot food and drink, a visit from Father Christmas, and a performance from local puppetry group – Peasedown Puppets.

Cllr Jo Davis, who organised the successful ‘Boogie Wonderland’ evening event at Party in the Park in July, commented: “Our first event last year attracted almost 300 people. It was a great evening for the whole family which we hope to recreate again this year.

We’re creating a magical feel to this event with Santa’s Grotto, Christmas music and mulled wine and cider.”

Christmas in the Park is a joint venture between Peasedown 1st and Party in the Park.

Cllr Karen Walker, a founder of the village’s Party in the Park festival, added: “Part of the inspiration behind Christmas in the Park has been the positive feedback from not only residents, but businesses and the Police we receive following Party in the Park events every summer.

Sponsored by Somer Community Housing Trust and Lilley’s Cider Barn, Christmas in the Park is a family event, for people of all ages, on Wednesday 21st December, from 7pm-9pm at Beacon Hall, Peasedown St John.

Fundraising Manager Mike Auton says there is still a chance for businesses and organisations to get involved: “Businesses who chose to sponsor the event will be included in all our publicity. Our costs this year include the hire of Beacon Hall, food and drink and our raffle prizes. If anyone who would like to come on board as a sponsor can get in touch with me by emailing [email protected] or calling 07862 253514.

Event-goers are asked to wrap up warm and bring a torch. The event will take place inside if wet.

The PA for the event will be provided by Jerry Curd, of St John’s Church. Francis Day from Peasedown Methodist Church will be leading the carol singing with the Bath Spa Brass Band.
