Villagers in Peasedown St John came together last Sunday to clean up their local community as a way to start 2013.
Organised by Peasedown 1st, residents gathered in Frederick Avenue and Albert Avenue to fill almost 10 bags of rubbish.
Becci McCafferty, who lives in the estate and is the secretary of the group said: “Community clean ups are always useful, not only for giving the neighbourhood a spring clean, but also for bringing people together. Every once in a while it’s good for this kind of event to happen.”
Becci was joined by neighbours, friends and several local councillors including Mandy Clarke. She said: “Unfortunately, the refuse collectors often miss items or don’t always pick everything up which means rubbish is left behind. I know that many local residents have raised concerns about this several times – which is why we were only too happy to organise the clean-up event.”
Peasedown 1st will be organising another litter pick for February. Keep an eye out for further details. For more information about Peasedown 1st visit their new look website www.peasedown1st.org.uk.
