The new fortnightly evening meeting will be hosted by husband and wife team Nick and Kathy Jory – who are active members of St John’s Church in the village.
Church Leader, Revd Matthew Street, said “The Alpha Course has been running nationwide for over twenty years. It gives people who take part a chance to explore the meaning of life from a Christian perspective in a relaxed, low key and friendly way with a meal at the beginning of every session.
“Alpha is open to everyone and anybody and is designed specifically for people wanting to find out more about the Christian faith.”
Since the 1980’s more than 5.2 million people around the world have taken part in the free course.
Attractive to many, the low-pressure, fun and informative course is a place to relax, share your thoughts and explore the meaning of life. Over 10 weeks, topics explored include:
Who is Jesus?
Why did Jesus die?
Why and how do I pray?
Why and how should I read the Bible?
How does God guide us?
Who is the Holy Spirit?
Does God heal today?
What about the church?
How can I make the most of the rest of my life?
People are encouraged to come with an open mind and ask any question they like. Each session is a chance for discussion and conversation about some of the most topical questions concerning the meaning of life.
Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or hostile.
The new Alpha course starts on 1st March and will be held at 5 Bath Road, Peasedown St John, home of Nick and Kathy Jory. A meal will be provided from 7pm for a 7.30pm start. This course is open to anyone who would like to join. For more details email Nick [email protected] or contact Church Administrator Hywel Carr – 07881 921018.
