Spectators coming to see the Olympic Torch Relay in Bath on Tuesday 22 May are being encouraged use public transport.
Most bus services will try to run to schedule as much as possible, but please be prepared for some disruption. The majority of bus services will operate the same routes as normal, but there will be some exceptions – please see below:
- Lansdown Park & Ride will operate to and from Queen Square instead of Milsom Street all day.
- Service 2 will operate via Ambury, Westgate Buildings and Queen Square between 3.30pm & 4.30pm
- Service 4 will operate via North Parade instead of Great Pulteney Street between 2pm & 4.30pm
- Service 6 will operate via Ambury, Westgate Buildings and Queen Square between 3.30pm & 4.30pm
- Service 18, U10 and U18 to Bath University will operate between the city centre and the top of Bathwick Hill only between 2pm & 4pm. Whilst the relay is proceeding down Bathwick Hill between 3.20pm & 4pm, these services will be temporarily suspended.
- Services 700 and 716 will cease operating after 3pm.
In addition the following bus services will also be significantly delayed at times as the Torch crosses their routes between 3.30pm & 5pm:
- Newbridge Park & Ride, 1, 13, 14, 17, 20A, 20C, 79, 94, 228, 231, 232, 264, 265, 271, 272, 319, 332, 337, 620, SPA1, X31, X39 & X72.

Members of the public should be aware that South Gloucestershire Council will be closing the A431 road through Bitton, Longwell Green and Hanham, from 4pm for approximately two hours on 22 May. Visitors are advised to plan their alternative route accordingly.

Residents are reminded that, due to the rolling road closures in place for the Torch Relay, Bath’s Midland Road recycling centre will close at 3.30pm. The nearest alternative recycling centre is available at Pixash Lane in Keynsham (open until 4.15pm).
