A new Council Cabinet Member for Early Years, Children, and Youth has been appointed. Councillor Dine Romero represents the Liberal Democrats in Southdown and takes over immediately.

Councillor Paul Crossley (Lib-Dem, Southdown), Leader of Council, said, “I’m delighted to be adding Dine to the Cabinet. She has played an extremely active role on the Council in the past and is an extremely hard worker representing residents in Southdown.”

Councillor Romero was the Vice-Chair on the Early Years, Children and Youth Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel, serves on the Licensing Committee, and represents the Council on the West of England Strategic Partnership – Joint Scrutiny Committee.

She said, “Significant challenges are faced by Bath & North East Somerset Council to ensure that children and young people enjoy their childhood and are prepared for adult life. The Council must play its part in tackling the problem of higher local unemployment amongst younger people by giving them hope through supporting them to learn new skills and life experiences. I look forward to working hard alongside our partners to achieve this.”

The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday 12th September 2012 will be attended by Councillor Romero.
