Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for help and information after a 24-year-old man was found with a serious head injury in Bath early this morning.
A householder found him collapsed in Beechen Cliff Road at around 4.30am. He was taken to the RUH and later transferred to Frenchay Hospital.
Detectives say that how he suffered the injury is so far unexplained. They know his identity and have contacted his family, and are tracing his movements overnight.
They say they particularly want to trace a man of student age seen with him in the Beechen Cliff area.
The man, who is white and of thin build, was wearing either a red and white checked shirt or an orange T-shirt. He is reported to have left the scene when an ambulance arrived.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Bath CID on 101.
