The Wheels for All scheme from the Council is offering cycling opportunities for disabled children and adults with differing needs.
The Council is now planning a full season of sessions and events for the 2013 spring and summer programme.
As well as after school clubs and taster sessions Wheels for All’s amazing funky three- and four-wheeled bikes will be making a special appearance at the Two Tunnels Greenway Festival and grand opening on Saturday 6th April.
Two Tunnels is set to be Bath’s iconic walking and cycling route as well as the UK’s longest cycling tunnel, so as the Wheels for All bikes will be available to try out you could be the first person to ride the tunnel on a three-wheeler.
Wheels for All bikes will also be at the Somer Valley Adventure Play Park, in Midsomer Norton on Wednesday 3rd April from 1pm to 3pm as part of a free Wheels Day with Wansdyke Play Association.
Councillor Dine Romero (Lib-Dem, Southdown), Cabinet Member for Early Years, Children and Youth, said: “Bath & North East Somerset Council is keen to support the people most in need to live full active lives, so we’re delighted to be running sessions for ‘Kids’ the national charity which works with disabled children, young people and their families across England.
“We’ve also teamed up with Sustrans’ Active Travel project working within secondary schools across the district to provide children with the skills and information to allow them to travel to school actively and sustainably by bike, foot or public transport on a regular basis. We’re especially keen for children with special educational needs within mainstream secondary schools to join in the fun and enjoy the benefits of active travel.”
As part of the Active Travel project the bikes will next be at Hayesfield School in Bath on 17th and 18th April.
