Bertie & Jack, the popular artwork designer from Bath has been selected as one of six businesses to be featured in the first ever StartUp High Street shop in London.
The temporary shop in Richmond will be occupied by Britain’s most promising small enterprises, giving an opportunity to reach new customers and experience first hand the world of High Street retailing.
The flagship store, which is located directly opposite Richmond train station, opens its doors 23rd July, with Bertie & Jack being featured through to 5th August.
Bertie & Jack is l taking its brand of clever, cool and kooky artwork which features animal cut outs and contemporary colourful prints to a wider market. Emma Hughes, partner from Bertie & Jack said: “We’re thrilled to be selected from the huge number of businesses that applied to be part of the StartUp High Street launch. To be involved in such a high profile campaign to invigorate the High Street is a real honor and fantastic opportunity for Bertie & Jack.”
The campaign’s initiative has won the support of Business Secretary Vince Cable.
He said: “The government believes that start-ups are crucial to driving the growth of the economy, as demonstrated by our recent funding of the StartUp Loans scheme. The opportunity provided for entrepreneurs under the StartUp High Street initiative will give new businesses important access to the high street and offer them the support they need early on to help them to thrive. The scheme will be a welcome addition to our high streets, opening up shops, displaying enterprising spirit and showcasing the vital support on offer to help new businesses to succeed.”
StartUp High Street is the brainchild of StartUp Britain, a national campaign led by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. It aims to breathe new life into Britain’s flagging high streets. The initiative has won the support of prominent retail entrepreneurs including Sir Charles Dunstone, Luke Johnson and Mary Portas.
