Youth football in Peasedown St John has been given a financial boost thanks to local Lib Dem councillor Nathan Hartley.
The new successful Peasedown Youth Albion Football Club has become so popular that they now have a new team for children under 7 years old.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of the older members of the club who have already won the league, the new team has been provided with a new football kit.
Cllr Nathan Hartley secured almost £250 from B&NES Council so the Under 7s could afford a kit for their first season. He said;
“Being encouraged to take part in sport and other physical activities from a young age is very important. A fit and healthy childhood increases the chances of staying healthy later on in life and living longer.
“I was happy to help Peasedown Youth Albion when they asked me for funding from the council. Despite tough financial times, B&NES Council continues to make money available for community projects like this, and to protect key frontline services such as our local youth and children’s centre.”
The new Under 7’s football kit has the B&NES Council logo embroidered onto it.
