A new police horse recieved it’s official name today. ‘Lewis’ has been named after Chief Superintendent Lawrie Lewis in honour of the fact that he has 30-years of service this year.
Chief Superintendent Lewis said: “It’s a real honour that Lewis is being named after me. My 30 years with the Police so far have been truly exceptional and it’s good to know that even after I retire there will still be a Lewis carrying on serving the force after me.”
Lewis was officially named at a ceremony at 2pm on Wednesday 22 February at the Horse and Dog Unit at Bower Ashton.
At the same time one of the force’s longest serving horses Imperial was also retired after 15-years of loyal service. Mark Owen the Executive of Horse World was at the ceremony to take Imperial to his new home at Horse World.
