Nominations are now open for this year’s Council Chairman Community & Business Awards 2012/13 which aim to identify those volunteers and local businesses who make an exceptional contribution to our local community.
The Awards are organised in partnership with, the Volunteer Centre Bath & North East Somerset, CURO (formally Somer Community Housing Trust), the Student Community Partnership and the Quest project.
Councillor Rob Appleyard, Chairman of Council, said, “These Awards will recognise volunteers, community leaders and businesses that make a positive contribution to the local community, putting people first and inspiring others to get involved. Bath & North East Somerset Council and its partners are delighted to be organising the Awards, whose theme is based around the fact that people matter. I hope as many people can take the time to nominate for an Award.”
Mike Plows, Manager of B&NES Volunteer Centre said, “This also an opportunity to raise the awareness of the needs of many community and charitable organisations, and to build on the valuable links which are being developed through the new B&NES Business Engagement Network and its future potential.”
Vanessa Collier, Community Investment Manager at Somer Housing, said, “This is the third year that Somer has taken part in this brilliant initiative. We’ve always found Volunteering Week to be a great way for colleagues across Somer to get to know the communities they work in better, while making a positive difference through so many practical projects.”
In a change to the previous year’s Awards, the Community and Business Award schemes will now take place together rather than separately.
