With just a few days to go to Peasedown’s highly anticipated Jubilee Party in the Park on 4th June, festival organisers have revealed the names of this year’s main sponsors.

Costing over £6,000 to host, Jubilee Party in the Park is the most expensive annual event the organisers have ever put together.

Joy Fraser, festival treasurer, said: “For the first time ever we have not only reached, but exceeded our fundraising target. The event is costing over £6,000 to host – most has been provided by our principle sponsors – from which we are very grateful to them and all our sponsors this year.”

Bluebird Care Bath, B&NES Council, Somer Housing, David Wilson Homes, Quartet and Cllr Sarah Bevan through her Initiative Fund, have all given the thumbs up to the celebrations which attract up to 3,000 each year.

Vanessa Collier, Community Investment Manager at Somer Housing, said: “We have supported Peasedown’s Party in the Park for several years now, and each year’s event gets bigger and better. The 2012 Jubilee party is set to top them all and we’re delighted to be one of the event sponsors.“

Hosted by Somer Valley FM’s Dom Chambers and Maxine Stride, the 7 hour spectacular will include the launch of Peasedown Cider, the village’s new beverage, and the announcement of the winner of the Sara Holley Community Award.

Cllr Rob Appleyard, the Chairman of Bath and North East Somerset Council, will be opening the event just after midday.

Live performances will take place on the 45 foot stage from Richard Inghams Amazing Street Cred Band, Susan Hill School of Dance, Scared by Perfection, FyreFight, Golden Oldies, Steve Robinson, Bath All Star Cheerleaders and the Stardust Majorettes.

The sponsorship generated from businesses and organisations enables the organising team to cover the event costs, which include the Premises License, PA equipment, hire of Beacon Hall, publicity and marketing, and equipment needed for the day.

Other stalls and attractions include a 1950’s style ‘Big Lunch’ Tea Party, the Red Post Beer Tent, ‘Peasedown Through the Ages’ photographic exhibition, the Union Jack merchandise, Peasedown Puppets, croquet, The Beacon Hall Tea Dance, hot food, childrens activities, the village-wide crown competition and much more.

Over 50 volunteers will be taking part to help keep the site clean, collect entrance fees on the gates and ensure the event runs smoothly.

Jubilee Party in the Park Fundraising Manager, Mike Auton said: “We introduced a small entrance fee a few years ago when we decided we wanted to invest money back into the community in the form if small grants to voluntary groups.

Some of the money collected from entrance fees will be set aside for the next Party in the Park Grant Fund – which in the past has supported groups including Peasedown Youth Centre, Peasedown Youth Albion, and the Methodist Church Kitchen refurbishment project. The rest will go towards funding the event.”

Entrance fee is £1 for adults, 50p for children, and under 5’s are free. Free programmes will be available for those attending.

Jubilee Party in the Park will take place on Beacon Field, and in Beacon Hall, on Monday 4th June from 12 noon – 7pm.
