The Council are inviting us all to celebrate the start of 2012 in style with a large firework display from the Recreation Ground.

@RobPolden

Those seeing in the New Year in Bath should look to the night sky at midnight as when the Abbey bells toll twelve the city centre streets will be lit up by a fabulous fireworks display to announce the New Year.

Bath’s spectacular six-minute sky show has been designed by Pains Fireworks who stage the splendid annual 5th of November displays. New Year’s Eve revellers are invited to gather in Abbey Churchyard and Kingston Parade just before midnight to celebrate together.

Councillor Cherry Beath (Lib-Dem, Combe Down), Cabinet Member for sustainable Development said: “Bath & North East Somerset Council is delighted to mark the start of an exciting new year of cultural events and activities. 2012 will see us hosting the Olympic Torch Relay on Tuesday 22 May, celebrating twenty five years of Bath’s World Heritage Site status, launching the Quest Cultural Olympiad website and partying in Royal Victoria Park for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Tuesday 5 June. We wish all our residents and visitors across Bath and North East Somerset a wonderful 2012.“

Please note: On 31st December Bath Recreation Ground will be closed to the public for safety reasons – the best public vantage point for the fireworks will be from the city centre.
