Somer Housing, one of the South West’s biggest housing groups, is set to change its name to Curo in a rebrand from 2nd July this year.
Running over 11,500 homes across the west under various guises, Curo will be a coming together of all of their three landlord functions Somer Community Housing Trust, Redland and Shape – into one. They will also be setting up a specialist organisation to provide support and care services.
Why the new name? Curo is Latin for ‘I care’ and Somer think this name represents the spirit of their organisation and their plans for the future.
The name change won’t change any tenancy conditions, rents or the cost of support services.
In a statement they said: “Changing our name will reduce duplication and make it easier for customers to know who their landlord or support provider is. It will also, in the longer term, allow us to improve service quality, consistency and convenience.“
The company will be run under four operating divisions within the Curo Group family:
- Curo Places – housing association
- Curo Choice – care and support business
- Curo Enterprise – commercial business
-
Curo Response – direct labour organisation
