Bath’s HMV store on Stall Street is the latest casualty of the high street after administrators were called in to try and create a rescue package for the company.
The future of the staff at the store is uncertain, as is the store’s future itself with administrators currently attempting to find a buyer to give a lifeline to the struggling chain.
The HMV in Bath has been on Stall Street for years, and remains one of the last places to go to get physical music, films and related items.
Their pre-Christmas sales have been reported as poor and the company felt they wouldn’t be able to continue trading without some insolvency protection to cover their trading.
HMV employs around 4000 people across the UK, and every store will no longer be accepting or selling gift vouchers.
If the Bath store closes, it’ll be the latest high street chain to disappear from the area after Jessops’ closure last week.
