Bath Golf Club have raised a whopping £3,455.79 for their dedicated charity, the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC).
The charity were nominated by Bath Golf Club’s Ladies Captain at the time, Kate Smith, as her charity of the year for 2011-2012, after learning that the air ambulance is funded solely by public donations.
During the year, funds were raised in a number of ways, including charity golf days, coffee mornings, an autumn fair, as well as raffles. In addition to the total amount, £18 was raised through clothes recycling and will be donated to the charity directly from BCR Global Textiles.
Speaking of her support for GWAAC, Kate said: “I find it amazing that the service only survives through public donations, and as none of us know when we might need their help, I have been delighted to support the wonderful work that the charity. It has proved to be a very popular choice with our members and I am so glad that I nominated them as our charity of the year.”
John Christensen, Chief Executive of GWAAC, said: “We are delighted that Bath Golf Club have decided to support our cause, and would like to thank them for all of their fundraising efforts, which will help to keep our air ambulance flying.”
