Now is your chance to dress to impress and go speed dating to find your perfect apprenticeship match with the City of Bath College.
Young people will improve their future prospects by meeting an array of would-be employers at next week’s Get Hired event.
The recruitment equivalent of speed dating is free-of-charge and takes place at Bath Rugby Club’s clubhouse at The Rec on Wednesday 22nd May, from 6pm to 8pm.
The initiative has been organised by City of Bath College, Norton Radstock College and Bath and North East Somerset Council.
Young people have the chance to take part in a series of six-minute interviews with around 30 local employers who have current apprenticeship vacancies.
The short interviews enable young people to meet employers face-to-face, breaking the ice and some of the tensions that sometimes a full interview can create. They also give employers a chance to gather initial impressions and decide if they would like to take them forward to the next stage of recruitment.
Employers already signed up for the event include Aquaterra, Rotork, Crest Nicholson, 1PM UK, Three Abbey Green, Bakers of Bath, Futureform, Old Priory, Firebrand, and Actual Solution.
Stacey Harper, Customer Relationship Manager at City of Bath College, said: “An apprenticeship provides an opportunity to gain a suite of recognised qualifications and get paid at the same time.
“You can get apprenticeships in everything from accountancy and sales to hospitality and horticulture.
“There are over 200 different frameworks available at a range of levels, suitable for those just starting their career to Higher Apprenticeships for people with more experience.”
Shirley Arayan, Principal at Norton Radstock College, said: “The Get Hired event provides a fantastic opportunity for young people to meet local employers with live apprenticeship vacancies.
“It’s important that we work together to help make recruiting an apprentice a straightforward and seamless experience for both employer and employee.”
Councillor Cherry Beath, cabinet member for sustainable communities, said it was important to highlight the wide range of apprenticeship opportunities available to young people.
She said: “The young apprentices of today are valued as the business leaders of the future.
“It’s important for the local business community to think about how apprentices can fit into their companies and for young people to seize the on-the-job learning opportunities.”
Get Hired will also give people a chance to register with the National Apprenticeship Service, get careers advice and guidance and feedback on their CVs. It will also be a chance to speak to local training providers and current apprentices.
To make the most of the event, you will need to bring at least 10 copies of your CV. Everyone is welcome to turn up on the night.
