Visitors can enjoy a torch-lit evening of Roman music, drama and wine tasting at the Roman Baths as part of the Museums at Night celebrations later this month.
Heritage students from Bath Spa University are organising the “Roman Sensations” event at the Roman Baths on Saturday 19 May, from 8.15pm to 11pm (last entry 10pm).
By the light of flickering torches, you can walk on 2,000 year old pavements in the footsteps of the ancients.
Councillor Nathan Hartley (Lib-Dem, Peasedown), Deputy Leader of Council, said: “As darkness falls, the remains of the vast Roman complex take on a unique atmosphere. Bath & North East Somerset Council is delighted to be working with Bath Spa University and Bath Tourism Plus to offer this wonderful experience for people to enjoy and learn more about this magnificent piece of history. With its steaming waters and Roman artefacts, the Roman Baths is a truly magical place to visit at nightfall.
“We hope our residents and visitors will take this special opportunity to explore the Roman Baths along with the whole host of other local heritage attractions taking part in Museums at Night 2012.“
As part of Museums at Night 2012, hundreds of museums, galleries, libraries, archives and heritage sites across the country will unlock their doors for special evening events from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 May.
