Students from City of Bath College’s outstanding Art & Design Department will be exhibiting their extensive range of work at the College this summer.
This year’s end of year show is titled Constructed, to celebrate the completion of the College’s new Roper Building. The exhibition will showcase work from around 200 of the College’s budding artists and designers. Work on show will include painting, drawing, sculpture, fashion and textiles, glass, jewellery, photography, printmaking and new media.
Dave Merriman, Head of the College’s Art and Design Department, said: “The annual end of year show is the culmination of a fantastic year. We are very proud of the commitment and innovation shown by all our students, who are increasingly progressing to prestigious institutions for further study.
“We have also had a tremendously successful year in developing leisure courses, which further enhances opportunities for our students. This year we have introduced new programmes such as Printed Textiles, Millinery, Bookbinding and Picture Framing which are proving to be extremely popular.”
For the second year running the summer exhibition will be followed by the Bath Schools Art Show. Hosted at City of Bath College, the show will feature the work of 16-18 year olds from schools throughout Bath and the surrounding area. There will be prizes on offer for the best young artists.
Dave added: “We are pleased to be hosting the popular schools art show again. It is a fantastic opportunity for local students to exhibit their work in a large gallery space and for us to work collaboratively with colleagues from in and around the city.”
Constructed runs from Monday 25th June to Friday 29th of June from 10am to 6pm, at the College’s Herschel Building, Avon Street.
The Bath Schools Art show runs from Tuesday 10th July to Friday 13th July from 10am to 5pm also at the College’s Herschel Building.
