An eldery woman was discovered dead in the canal in Bathampton near to Bathampton school this morning.
Avon and Somerset Police and Avon Fire and Rescue were called to the scene on Tyning Road just before 7.30am this morning after the body had been seen in the water.
The area was cordoned off until around 11am while investigations continued.
The woman has yet to be identified though it is believed she was 78 years old, with her death being greatly currently as not suspicious.
Initial reports suggested that the woman’s car keys had been found at the side of the canal adjacent to where she was seen.
