A dishwasher was believed to be the cause of a fire in a house in Bath last week from which four people escaped unhurt.
Fire crews were alerted at 18.42 to the incident on Langdon Road in Southdown last Wednesday.
Two adults and two children were in the upstairs of the house when they smelt smoke and heard their smoke alarm going off. On investigation they found a fire in their kitchen.
Fortunately the four had the presence of mind to close the door of the kitchen as they escaped the house.
Two fire engines from Bath’s Fire Station attended. Once on scene four firefighters in breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel to deal with the blaze. The fire caused heat and smoke damage in the kitchen, but as the door had been closed it prevented the fire from spreading further into the house.
The fire is believed to have started accidentally in the dishwasher.
