Next Sunday, residents in Peasedown St John are being invited to take part in a community clean up to start of the New Year for the area.
Members of Peasedown 1st, which was set up in 2010 to promote social cohesion and bring the community together, have decided to give the largest housing estate in the village a spring clean.
Peasedown 1st Secretary, Becci McCafferty said: “Peasedown 1st believes very strongly in community action and working with residents to help them make a difference in their village.
“Over the last few weeks, residents in Frederick and Albert Avenues have been in touch with us about the litter in their streets and asked if there was anything we could do to help.”
The community clean up is the first arranged by Peasedown 1st in the village in 2013, and follows many successful action days in previous years.
Leader of Peasedown 1st, Cllr David Walker added: “We’ve organised a number of this type of events over the years, they are always well attended and show us just how much people care about Peasedown St John. I do hope that this clean-up will be the first of many this year.”
The Peasedown Community Clean-Up will start at 11am on Sunday 6th January outside 46 Frederick Avenue.
Anyone who’d like to come should bring gloves and any protective clothing they may want to wear. Peasedown 1st will provide the litter pickers and rubbish sacks.
