Photography students have sought inspiration from Cupid’s arrow and used their cameras to target true love.
The six Photography BTEC Level 3 students from City of Bath College got behind the lens to capture the love of shoppers.
To get people in the Valentine’s Day mood, the students took hundreds of photos of people cuddled up on a ‘love seat’ in the SouthGate centre.
Almost 70 of the student’s photos were featured in a four-page Valentine picture special in The Bath Chronicle.
The pictures captured people kissing, cuddling, and holding romantic props such as heart-shaped balloons and red roses.
Everyone was encouraged to spread the love with couples, groups of friends, complete strangers and individuals posing on the love seat.
Photography Lecturer Jo Sanders said: “The students really enjoyed themselves and loved the experience. They got to experience how a professional photographer operates and had to instruct people how to pose.”
The student photographers were Marianne Villamin, Adele Parkinson, Charlie Press, Laurence Bishop, Andy Willis and Beth Rogers.
Beth’s photo of a man lovingly pressing his face up against a woman’s cheek was selected by The Bath Chronicle as the most romantic photo. Beth won the chance to spend a day with one of the newspaper’s photographers.
Marianne, 19, who lives in Corsham, said: “I was a bit scared about interacting with people, but I’m sure it helped me get more confident. It was a bit nerve-wracking speaking to people but it was good fun and good for my portfolio.”
