Following on from a fantastic opening night in April, Club Calamba! is back by popular demand at Portvcale in Bath.

Riding high on the success of the first “Calamba!”, the Calamity James Corporation is proud to announce that the club will be returning as a permanent Friday night event from Friday 6th July 2012.

Club Calamba! will be held on the first Friday of every month at Portvcale on St James Parade, 6pm – 1am and entry is free.

The club nights will feature an eclectic mix of musical genres starting out with laid-back easylistening grooves, world beats and funky electronica, and followed by a little rock n roll, soul, disco and post-punk classics to get you up on the dance floor – think Sammy Davis Jnr mixing it with James Brown, Panjabi MC and Blondie.

James Olver, who will take charge of the decks as Calamity James, is the brainchild behind Club Calamba!, and he is thrilled with the response so far. “I’m really pleased with the feedback we have  had since the launch party back in April. It was a real success and goes to show that we have something a bit different to offer from the average clubbing experience. I wanted to create a club night for all those people who don’t know where to go anymore to have a good night, or who perhaps don’t get to go out all that often for a night on the town. There is a deliberate variety of music on offer so that we can cater to many different tastes – but above all it’s a fun, ego-free night.”

Portvcale, a recently re-opened and refurbished bar and lounge on St James’s Parade, is the perfect venue for Club Calamba! This hip little venue provides a warm ambience combined with a real cosmopolitan atmosphere where sumptuous authentic Portuguese food and delectable cocktails are on the menu. Club Calamba! invites you to come along after work, unwind after a long week, enjoy some mouth-watering, home-cooked food, then head downstairs to join in the fun. With its retro, kitsch charm, Calamba is a totally unique club night in Bath which we are sure will have you coming back for more.
