Thousands of homes across Bath lost power this morning after a power cut spread across the area at around 6.50am.
Residents were awoken with the sound of house alarms, radios and other household equipment as the power resumed after around 20 seconds and triggered them.
Reports of the loss of power stretched from the north of the city, in areas such as Larkhall and Swainswick all the way across Bath to the Combe Down area.
Western Power Distribution, who maintain and serve local power, told us: “Unfortunately 40,000 customers were affected at 6.45 this morning for 3 minutes. We have our helicopter flying the lines to investigate the fault.”
