The Chairman of the Council, Councillor Rob Appleyard will be hosting a coffee morning as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” from 8am-9.15 on Friday 28th September in the Chairman’s Room at the Guildhall in Bath.
The Chairman is delighted to announce that George Harding, one of Bath’s Olympic Torch Bearers, will be joining him for the event.
Councillor Appleyard said: “George will be dressed in his Torch Relay running outfit and bringing the Torch with him for the occasion and will delighted to have photographs taken with people attending the coffee morning.
“So on your way to work on Friday 28 September, why not pop into Bath & North East Somerset Council’s historic Guildhall to enjoy a unique coffee experience.”
Mr Harding will have just returned from another challenge in support of Macmillan Cancer Support – cycling from London to Nice, via Paris and Geneva, and guests will be able to hear first-hand of his experiences. He has already raised more than £110,000 by undertaking various challenges and will soon be taking off again to cycle in Africa from Nairobi through Tanzania and on to Mount Kilimanjaro.
People are encouraged to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the Chairman’s Room in return for a donation to the charity MacMillan Cancer Support.
Following on from the event in the Guildhall, the Chairman and Mr Harding will be visiting a number of other coffee mornings in Bath and North East Somerset.
