The 10th annual Celebration of Achievement Awards will be held by Bath & North East Somerset Council on 12th July in honour of those who enrich the lives of children through early childhood and play opportunities.

The awards, taking place at the Pavilion in Bath, will be presented to individual workers, volunteers and organisations working with children and families in recognition of their work in the early years, childcare and play sector.

The evening celebrates the achievements of those working in a range of settings across Bath and North East Somerset; including nurseries, playgroups, children’s centres, child-minders, out-of-school and holiday clubs. It also celebrates those working in health such as health visitors and midwifery services.

Councillor Nathan Hartley (Lib-Dem, Peasedown), Cabinet Member for Early Years, Children and Youth and Deputy Leader of Council, said, “These awards celebrate the dedication and devotion of some outstanding individuals and teams who work with Bath & North East Somerset Council to offer children the best possible start in life and ensure that they enjoy their childhood.”

Among those being rewarded will be the many child-minders and childcare settings judged by Ofsted as ‘”Outstanding”, as well as all individuals who have achieved childcare qualifications over the last year. Childcare settings will receive certificates for accolades such as the Healthy Eating Award or the Children and Young People’s Rights Charter.

The evening will also feature awards being presented to people and organisations that have been nominated for their outstanding work with children and families

This includes the YMCA Day Nursery in Bath for supporting the Council’s Celebrating Fatherhood campaign to enable fathers to get as involved in their children’s development as mothers, and Castle Primary School, Keynsham, for acting on the suggestions of children to meet their needs.
