One of Bath’s newest businesses has been nominated, in recognition for investment in the local community, at this year’s Bath & North East Somerset Council Business Awards.
Bluebird Care Bath, which provides care to elderly, disabled and vulnerable people in their own homes, was set up by Managing Director Tim Rowland-Jones just 18 months ago.
Under Tim’s direction, the company has thrived, serving customers whose needs range from help with getting up or going to bed, preparation of meals, personal hygiene, assisting with taking medication and overnight or live-in care.
The organisation, which has provided jobs for over 40 people, has been nominated by Mandy Clarke from Peasedown St John. She said: “A dedication to excellent customer service is the core of Bluebird Care’s work and has a been a critical factor in the fast growth of the company which has grown, in the space of one year, to be a leading homecare supplier in our area. Tim’s passion for and dedication to caring for people with needs has also been the cause for his involvement with the Bath Alzheimer Society’s day centre. For the past year, Tim has dedicated one morning a week to entertain patients at the center by leading fun, interactive activities with them.
“He’s has also joined the newly created ‘befriending scheme’, an initiative set up by the Alzheimer Society which provides moral support for patients who have recently been admitted the Royal United Hospital who also have dementia. He dedicates a further afternoon a week in the hospital ward, chatting and spending time with patients who might not have other family support available to them.”
Bluebird Care Bath is continually looking to provide additional support activities to communities around the area. An example is their sponsorship of the Wellow Community bus, whereby the company helped subsidise the use of the public bus network between Wellow and Bath – which aids those isolated and without transport to get out and meet others.
Commenting on the nomination, Tim said: “I am obviously very proud to be nominated for the award. Although Bluebird Care is a national brand, we are very much a local business, managed by local people. We employ people of all ages and provide support to some of the most vulnerable parts of our community. I am really passionate about what I do and the quality care we provide to people throughout B&NES.
“The voluntary work I do with Alzheimer’s Society is unrelated to Bluebird Care but it is something I really enjoy and the experience it gives me, helps my understanding a little bit more about how people and their families live with dementia.”
Bluebird Care Bath has never lost a single customer as a result of poor service. In the same time, the company has grown to be a leading at-home customer care organisation in the Bath area with over 100 regular customers and is growing at a rate of 20% on a month by month basis.
In the company’s first twelve months of operation from November 2010, Tim’s team provided more than 19,000 visits of care which makes Bluebird Care (Bath) one of the fastest growing offices amongst Bluebird Care franchises nationwide.
They now fulfill just under 3,000 home visits per month.
The Bath and North East Somerset Business Awards will be held at the Guildhall in Bath on Wednesday 22nd February.
