Community activists in Peasedown St John have raised concerns about B&NES Council’s plans to close the public toilets in Greenlands Road Car Park.

As part of the annual budget review, the Council is looking at what services can be cut to save money. On the cards are the public toilets behind the Waggon and Horses pub, in the centre of Peasedown St John’s main shopping area.

Becci McCafferty from Peasedown 1st said; “I’m keen to know what local people think about the future of these toilets. A number of elderly residents have told me that they’d like them to stay open, and I know that some of the businesses in Bath Road would like them to remain.”

The Council is about to embark on a two-year closure plan of half of its 29 public lavatories across the county. So far, no consultation has been carried out meaning the council has no idea what level of support these plans have.

Becci and the Peasedown 1st team are keen to know what Peasedown residents think. She can be contacted through her website: www.peasedown1st.org.uk, by emailing [email protected] or by calling Peasedown 1st on 07745 875984.

Becci added; “Peasedown St John is a village in need of more services and amenities. With almost 7,000 residents it’s important that we have the investment our village needs.”
