Local residents who use Personal Budgets or Direct Payments for their care provision are being encouraged to attend information sessions held by the council due to changes to the system.

From 2013, the Council will be using a new system to calculate people’s Personal Budgets or Direct Payments.

The new Personal Budgets system will mean:

  • More focus on flexible support options for you;
  • A fresh look at your funding to make sure you are receiving the right amount to meet your eligible care and support needs;
  • Less paperwork, with shorter, simpler and more relevant forms;
  • A quicker process so you know your Personal Budget or Direct Payment funding sooner;
  • A fairer and clearer system in which it is easier to understand how funding for care and support has been allocated.

If you have a Personal Budget or Direct Payment, come along to one of the following information sessions to learn more about the changes; ask any questions and share your thoughts:

  • Midsomer Norton – Somer Centre, Wednesday 28th November; 11.30am-1.30pm
  • Keynsham – Fry’s Conference Centre (Somerdale Lodge), Thursday 29th November; 10.30am-12.30pm
  • Bath – Guildhall (Brunswick Room), Friday 7th December; 10.30am-12.30pm

All venues are fully accessible. Tea and coffee will be available at the start and the sessions will finish with a light lunch.

You can just turn up on the day, but it would help to know if you are coming – especially if you have any special requirements (for example dietary). To confirm attendance or for further information, please contact Heather Crolley on 01225 477915 or email [email protected].

If you cannot attend but would like to know more, the Council has produced a factsheet to explain the changes which are being gradually phased in – visit www.bathnes.gov.uk/adultsocialcare/personalbudgetchanges or call 01225 477915 if you would like a paper version sent out to you.
