Following popular events in the past, Pet Sunday will be coming to two villages around Bath later this week.
Just like in the Vicar of Dibley, residents in and around Peasedown and Foxcote are being given the chance to take their animals to church.
The St John’s ‘Soul Food’ Church Family, which meets at Peasedown Youth Centre, and St James’ Church in Foxcote will be opening their doors next Sunday to animals of all types.
The special services are being planned by Children’s Worker Rob Bubyer, who said: “For many people our pets are members of the family. They can provide us with comfort in the low times and also be the best friends some people will ever have. Next Sunday our special services give us an opportunity to thank God for our animals.
If you would like to bring your pet along to church next Sunday please do.”
Both churches will also be displaying a ‘Pet Wall’ for any residents who can’t bring their animals to church but would still like them acknowledged.
Photographs for the Pet Wall should be sent to Rob by email: [email protected] or by post: 18 Saxon Way, Peasedown St John, BA2 8TR.
The Pet Sunday services will take place on 13th May in St James’ Church Foxcote, at 10am, and Peasedown Youth Centre at 4.30pm.
Any animals brought to church or youth centre need to be under their owner’s supervision at all times. Dogs will need to be on leads and other animals appropriately caged.
