Iain Nussey took a somewhat different approach to riding from John O’Groats to Land’s End this month while supporting charity Sustrans.
The postman, from Bath, visited the Isles of Skye, Mull and Arran, and battled horrendous rain and wind to finish his 1,060-mile journey.
The avid cyclist had wanted to ride around the UK since he was 14.
Iain avoided the standard 874-mile route most riders take in search of a unique experience.
However, 70mph winds and heavy rain between Liskeard to Land’s End made life tough for him.
‘The last two days were extremely difficult bordering on dangerous,’ he said.
Despite the difficulties, Iain finished his fourteen-and-a-half-day journey and raised more than £600 for Sustrans, an organisation which promotes walking, cycling and public transport.
‘I enjoyed my trip,’ he said. ‘I like going out on my own and enjoying the solitude.
‘You appreciate meeting people along the way and the things you have at home.’
