Frustrated writers can get literary help with a “Writing Surgery” being held at our local Bath & North East Somerset Council library later this month.
Two experienced writers from Bath Spa University will be on hand at Bath Central Library, from 11am to 12.30pm on Saturday 12 November, as part of National Short Story Week.
Sally Gander is a Creative Writing lecturer at the university, where she also graduated with an MA in Creative Writing in 2006. She writes novels, short stories and radio plays, and has recently completed a novel for young adults.
Rosie Oliver, a Creative Writing MA student, writes science fiction using her experience as an engineer and mathematician. Her short stories have been published in the UK and America.
Councillor David Dixon (Lib-Dem, Oldfield), Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “Bath & North East Somerset Council is delighted to welcome the writers from the university to share their writing tips and information. It should provide inspiration and renewal for writers who are blocked or short of ideas or for people who want to write but are not sure how to get going. Participants can just can just turn up for the free event on the day or bring ideas or work that they are stuck with.
“This is one of a number of special events we are holding as we want people to see that there’s more to life with the library. Having activities such as these helps our libraries promote what they have to offer so that even more people can benefit from them.“
