The Jessops camera high-street chain which has 192 stores across the country, and one in Southgate here in Bath has gone into administration with the likelihood that the Bath store will close.

The company currently employs around 2000 people across the country, and financial difficulties have put the jobs and the shops at risk.

Jessops was put into administration yesterday with administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers immediately attempting to get a quick sale for all 192 sites to keep the business going.

The administrators have however admitted that store closures are inevitable as they try and build a rescue package for the company.

The final decision on whether stores in certain areas will close will be made over the next few days.

The Bath store has always been based in Southgate, moving opposite into the new development once it had been built.
