Following another successful Bath Half Marathon at the weekend, entries have now been switched on for the 2014 race.

This is the earliest that organisers have ever opened general entries for the popular road race, which sells out months in advance of the race every year.

Andrew Taylor, BATHALF Race Director at Running High said: “Following a thriving BATHALF on Sunday, which was dubbed our best one yet by runners, we want to keep the momentum going and offer the public a chance to secure their entry early, ahead of next year’s race.”

Breast cancer awareness charity, CoppaFeel!, have been confirmed as the official Lead Charity for 2014; the second year running that they have secured  the prestigious title.

CoppaFeel! was founded in October 2009 by Kristin Hallenga who herself was misdiagnosed twice with breast cancer at age 23; and now lives with secondary breast cancer. The charity educates young people on the importance of checking their boobs regularly and knowing the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. CoppaFeel! aims to deliver their message in an innovative and memorable way.

Kristin said: “We’re over the moon to be chosen as the lead charity for the second year! Having almost doubled our running team and fundraising amount in 2013, we’re very excited to see what 2014 has in store! Let’s hope we can get hundreds more Hooters on board and many thousands more people hearing our life-saving message”.

CoppaFeel! have been involved in the BATHALF since 2011, achieving Lead Charity status in 2013. Since they have been involved, they have brought an array of famous faces to the city to run the event, including: X Factor presenter and Radio 2 DJ, Dermot O’Leary, who ran this year and in 2012; Greg James who presents the Radio 1 Drive Time programme, who ran alongside Dermot at the weekend; and Radio 1 DJ, Fearne Cotton who ran with the Hooters in 2011.

Mel Taylor, Charity Director at Running High commented: “We are delighted to announce CoppaFeel! as our official Lead Charity for a second year running. The whole team have such an incredible energy about them, bringing something really special and unique to the BATHALF and you can’t help but be blown away by their presence. We look forward to seeing what the charity has planned for 2014”.

The other official charities for 2014 are yet to be decided, and those interested in being involved should contact Charity Director, Mel Taylor on 01225 422255.

Mel added: “We already work with over 80 charities, but there are so many fantastic charities out there, achieving remarkable results for different causes and oozing enthusiasm for what they do. We are keen for them to benefit from the BATHALF and would urge them to get in touch to discuss opportunities”.

Entries for the Corporate Challenge for business teams and the BATHALF Family Fun Run will open soon.

Early bird entries cost £40 and will close on Wednesday 3rd April. General entries will then increase to £42.

The 2014 BATHALF will take place on Sunday 2nd March next year. For more information or to secure your place, visit www.bathhalf.co.uk or call 01225 422255.
