This month heralds the launch of an exciting new venture for Bath in the form of the city’s own online community TV channel.

Bath On TV – www.bathontv.co.uk – offers video coverage of what’s happening in and around the city – from event round-ups, vox pops, business features and fun feature videos.

“We’ve been working with Bath Tourism Plus to offer round-ups of what’s happening in and around the city, as well as local organisations to create exciting video coverage of our great city,” said Bath On TV’s James Stapleton. “We’ve been so pleased with the support and enthusiasm we’ve had in the build up to the launch.”

Councillor Cherry Beath, Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Cabinet Member for Sustainable Development said, “Bath is a hugely creative city and it’s very exciting to have this new platform to showcase our community. It will be great to see the channel grow over the coming months.”

Since the launch of the channel earlier this month, the Bath On TV team has been delighted with the response the channel has received.

“People have been extremely positive about Bath On TV,” added James. “We believe there is a real demand in Bath for online TV to help people engage with their community. Everything on Bath On TV is of local interest: Bath is the subject and Bath people are the audience.

“We are inviting local film-makers to get involved and submit content. There are also plans for a dedicated channel for local short film producers in the area to showcase their work. We really want that to be at the heart of Bath On TV. It’s a platform for local talent, worthy causes and local business – a brilliant opportunity,” continued James.

“Some organisations try desperately to promote themselves but struggle to catch the attention of national and regional television and other media unless there is a big story involved. Bath On TV can be that platform for local people and organisations to engage with their city through video.

“The channel thrives on involvement and community spirit – which Bath has plenty of.”
