A campaign to raise £1.5m for a new sixth form block in Bath was helped by a charity auction this week to help bring in the funds required.

St Gregory’s school hall played host to a grand charity auction on Saturday as parents and students turned up to bid for posterity.

Auctioneer John Rolfe said: “Charity auctions are an opportunity for many people to enjoy the thrill of a sale and is an affordable introduction to the world of antiques“.

Phase 1 of the new build which combines St Mark’s C of E school with St Gregory’s Catholic school is in progress on site at Odd Down, with Phase 2 planned but not yet funded.

The creation of the new buildings will allow for students from both schools to be centralised in one place.

Cllr Sarah Bevan, a parent and governor at the school, added: “We have pledged to raise the outstanding amount needed for the auditorium and Well (Chaplaincy) Centre ourselves and this is just one of the many unusual fundraisers planned“.
