Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a car was damaged by a pedestrian in Grand Parade.
It happened after the woman driver stopped near the Grand Hotel to let a woman cross the road. For some reason she started shouting and swearing at the driver, and then a man in a group with her banged his fist repeatedly on the car’s bonnet, causing around ten dents. He then walked off.
The victim was extremely shaken by the incident and describes feeling “physically sick with fear”. She said she thought that she and her 14-year-old son might be attacked.
The victim stopped a passing police officer and identified the suspect and others who by this time had reached Terrace Walk. The suspect, a 53-year-old man, was arrested for criminal damage to the car and later released on police bail.
It is believed that a taxi and possibly a pizza delivery bike may have information about the incident. The driver and rider and anyone else who saw what happened is asked to call Bath police on 101.
