Avon and Somerset Police in Bath are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a man was hit by a car and carried on its bonnet for about 40 yards before it drove off without stopping.

The man, in his 40s, was not seriously hurt but was severely shocked. He suffered a grazed knee and bruised shoulder.

It happened on North Parade at just after 10pm on Friday 1st March as rugby fans were leaving the Recreation Ground after the game between Bath and Gloucester.

A large number of people were walking along North Parade towards the city centre at the time and police believe many of them would have seen a red VW Golf collide with two pedestrians before driving off.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 711 Bob Prior at Bath police station on 101 or via http://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact/crime_reporting/
